Head Chocolatier and Co-Owner of ACC, Carley Snider once worked at a remote tourist getaway in the heart of the Weminuche Wilderness along the upper section of the Animas River. Located over 30 miles from civilization, it was accessible only by foot, historic narrow gauge rail line or helicopter. While there, Carley stumbled upon an old, worn leather recipe book that contained family recipes for truffles, assorted handcrafted chocolates and other baked goods. With her longtime interest in baking and an entrepreneurial spirit, the seed for Animas Chocolate Company was planted in Carley’s mind… We honor the legacy of that book by naming all of our truffles for an element along the Animas River corridor.
